To execute or not to execute..

I am sure this topic is will be a highly debated one.

I am not so sure myself though. But I am sure if faced with the same situation myself, I would kill the person myself or have him executed immediately. Rape is a terrible crime be it on a minor or an adult. We have heard about the rape of 3 months old to even a corpse! It is said that the person himself would have been abused during his growing up years. I truly believe that the community in which he was born into should also take the blame along with those who brought him up. But by execution aren’t we taking the easy way out? And every executed criminal shows that the community or society has failed. But setting a rapist out into the community is dangerous. He should serve his sentence in a jail or in a similar place where he will not come across potential victims. I am not sure if a rapist can have a change in personality.

Ramblings..

Howdy!

I am addicted to my blog..

I guess for many there is one more addiction.. blogging!

The kids will finish their exams tomorrow and then we have to pack their bags. They will be travelling alone this time. From next year onwards daughter will be an adult as per Airlines Standards and she is showing all the signs of an adult. But then she was a very independant character even when she was a toddler. She selected her own clothes, buttoned it up if needed, feeded herself etc. While son was the exact opposite! Even now he needs prodding to finish any task.

But then I have always thought that bringing up a girl child is always different from bringing up boys. Girls learn quickly and are independant faster while boys prefer sticking to their mothers a little while longer.

4 year old beaten to death!

It was shocking to read this news.. nd the mother being away in Iraq. Can a person be so cruel? and what could have prompted him to act this way?

Rumbling of another war??

We are now hearing the rumblings of another war in the Middle East. This takes me back to those days of the Iraq war. We used to burn midnight oil while watching, CNN, BBC, Sky news etc to see if America was really going to strike. But then the signs were all there. The never ending convoys of military equipments and men. We were advised to seal our flats and keep coals etc. to absorb the chemical gas. None of them ever told if these would ever keep us alive. The kids were younger at that time and never understood the seriousness. But when the first siren blew we all panicked. We were all at home and didn’t know what to do. We kept running for buckets of water etc. but then settled down to our fate. And then the sirens became frequent. Most of them didn’t know the difference. On the first siren one ought to get inside and be prepared until the danger passes and wait for the second siren. But most of them could be seen doing otherwise.
The ministry let the women work for 1 hour and then be with the kids and although I am working in a private firm, my boss was great enough to give me the same privilege. It was sad to see the kids, specially our son scurrying like mice upon hearing the siren. Finally we couldn’t take it anymore and send them away to their grand parents. It was the first time they were going to be away from us. While at the airport we heard one more siren but that was the last one too. After April 2nd we did not hear them again. But we let the kids stay away for almost 3 months until they forgot the tensions.
Compared to the Iraqis, we didn’t face anything. We did not see death although we heard a few missiles falling nearby. They have lost much in the war and are still losing. Their dignity, their wealth and everything. Does the same fate await the Iranians? If you take a look at Tehran it is a beautiful place. The affluent parts of Northern Tehran boast luxury apartment buildings
and condominiums featuring such amenities as "White Glove" doorman service
with pools, jaccuzzis and private garages in the flat !!!!
(You drive the car into the elevator and it will deliver your car up to your own private garage next to your flat)
It's amazing how clean Tehran's park ways are! Not one piece of paper or trash is tolerated here. The project of keeping the highways and certain areas of Tehran sparkling clean is an around-the-clock task. Many Tehranis have also developed a zealousy of keeping their city clean. A friend of mine told me of an incident where a lady admonished him for throwing a match in the street. When he told the lady that it was just a match a piece of wood - she replied by saying "My dear, can you imagine what Tehran would look like if each of its 15 million inhabitants would think like you?"
Will this beautiful place also be marred?

Children!

The other day while trying to nod off to sleep, hubby asked the kids to list the negative traits of their parents. A dangerous excercise and the kids hesistated and we assured them that we will not react. They started with the Father and his obsession with cleanliness and neatness. Then comes me and our son came up with this classic observation. If the TV is on, then it is as though Amma's bottoms are glued on to the seat! Wow! Now am I really a couch potatoe? I doubt since I dont get that kind of free time with cooking, washing, iorning etc etc. still what he says is true, if I am watching the TV screen, I hate being disturbed. And our son loves interrupting by asking a variety of questions.

Blogging

I think the best thing that happened on the net is "Blogging". It is like reading books - one gets the chance to read what other's are thinking. We get to know their thoughts, emotions, imaginations and what not. I am hooked on to bloggers. I may not be a good blogger myself but right now I am enjoying the other bloggers!

Some talk about their lover, some talk about their kids, while others about politics... but it is very entertaining.

I guess soon we shall have the "Best Blogger Award" and the "Worst Blogger Award".
an award for the best Family blogger... etc.

or do we have it already???

Carrefour

Finally Carrefour has opened their doors to the customers. It is at "The Avenues", one of the recent shopping spots.

The shop is very big and it does have a variety of stuff at affordable prices but the display is not classy enough. It cannot beat the existing shopping centres in this particular aspect. Right now they are selling most of the items at cost price and I am sure it is just one of their strategies to attract the customers. Anyway the consumers can be happy since they have more choices.

I was able to locate good shoes for my feet and I have spotted more of them too. Shoes are one thing that I can never find in any stores.. the one that fits me perfectly.. but I found them at Carrefour.

It is a very big place as compared to the other stores and I am sure there are many things yet to be discovered.

Iraq War

Living in the Middle East, once cant be blamed if one forms an opinion about the Iraq war. Read the latest news.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070523/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_terrorism

WASHINGTON - Rallying support for the war, President Bush' is pointing to U.S. intelligence asserting that Osama bin Laden ordered a top lieutenant in early 2005 to form a terrorist unit to hit targets outside Iraq, and that the United States should be first in his sights..

Is Bush talking about the same “intelligence” that asserted Iraq had WMD and that Saddam is closely associated with Osama? Yesterday he was talking about Iran’s work inside Iraq to force the American soldiers out. Is Bush having daily visions? I never could understand him in the first place and in turn the Americans as a whole when this whole Fiasco called Iraq war started. While growing up, I was told that America was the land of dreams and my entire knowledge of the Americans came in the small but lovely book The Readers Digest. My parents have subscribed for this book since its introduction to our country and I have always loved to read it. It showed the best of American culture. And then I came to Middle East and became a part of the growing resentment against the Americans. When they should have been called saviors they are being called occupiers and murderers. I blame the Americans for having turned a blind eye to the opinion of the rest of world. September 11 made the world sympathise with the Americans but what followed after was totally insane! How can I believe that Pres Bush after weeks of fasting and prayers suddenly had a vision to bring democracy to Iraq? There are other countries craving for democracy but why Iraq? Sadly the number of Iraqis killed has far surpassed the number killed by Saddam? Soon there will be no male Iraqis left in the country if this situation continues.

But who am I to talk about this?

Sister Abhaya

Sister Abhaya has become synonymous with injustice. This young lady is still creating terror in hearts of those who erred. She was murdered in Year 1992 and even after many attempts by CBI (India’s Central Bureau of Investigation) the case remains unsolved. But now there is renewed hope for her parents and for the whole state itself with the disturbing find that her original chemical examination report was tampered with. The local police and CBI were pressured during their investigations and all the evidence were destroyed except for this report. It is frightening to realize that power enough to shut the mouths of an entire state exists. The clergy did nothing to help the case and hence the fingers clearly points to them. As per Abhaya’s father, the same day he requested the Senior sister to bring in a sniffer dog and to take finger prints, but this was brushed away. And later the photos and other evidence were destroyed. Although the CBI came to the conclusion that it was a murder they opted not to investigate further, which is even more extra ordinary. Mr. Thomas who headed the CBI was forced to resign even when he had 7 years of service left since his conscious did not permit him to continue.
Will the murderers be brought to justice?

Communism

I have voted only once in my life time and I am sure I dint vote for the Communist. My family and those whom I have known for years are all not communists. But my perspective on many aspects on life changed once I moved away from home and its related support systems. I began to relate with communism. I saw life through an entirely different window and through the eyes of those not very fortunate in their life. I myself was tossed around and without the natural comfort of home and your own country one tends to ask questions. I do not see communism the way I saw it during my college days. Those days there were students drawn towards communism and I could never understand their fervor. Their ideas seemed mad and suicidal to me, but not anymore. During my last visit, we met with our Uncle and Aunty and had a heated debate on the same subject. They just couldn’t understand what me and hubby were trying to say. Of course.. I am not saying that Communism is perfect but right now they are far better than the

Kittens and Cats

I have always loved kittens and we had plenty of them while growing up.. and not all of them stayed with us to grow up into cats.. but we had them in many colors, full white, yellow, black and white etc. etc.

My sister used to have her own.. and she was very possessive of it. A very proud male cat and he used to love lying on my Father while he reclined on his easy chair.
Their ability to reproduce was tremendous. The female will start looking for “Delivery room” well in advance and would even spend some time to see the comfort and security. Since we used to have dogs too she had to be careful. Normally she will end up in our cupboards among our clothes! But more than one has changed the place at the last moment and felt safe to deliver next to my mom’s legs on her bed at night! My mother used to be very tolerant of them and hence will not disturb them until she is ready to shift her little one, even though she made the bed messy. And then we siblings will wait for the mother to go for her food to take a peek at the little ones, with their eyes closed. Normally it takes a week for their eyes to open and they say the mother will move them around seven times (locations) before their eyes are opened. Soon they will venture out in the open and that is when my mom will start shooing the away.

Mother's Prayer

It is said that a Mother’s prayer is the most powerful on Earth. God and heaven pauses to listen to her prayers.. after all a mother is appointed by God to look after the children until they can stand on their own. I have always believed this.. especially when I left the kids with the maid, when they were sick, when they were going to appear for their exams and even at quiet moments while they are sleeping – I say a short prayer for their well being since whatever efforts I may put, I can achieve nothing without the help from the Almighty.

So I guess as mothers it is our duty to pray for our children like our own mother has done and no child is too old for our prayers.

Vacation

My leave is approved and now I can plan it officially. 36 days is a short time but still… As usual we have many plans, but will have to wait and see. If the rains are severe then it will be vacationing at home only, which is also not a problem. I would love getting up late, having breakfast at leisure, read the paper, chat, then slowly prepare for lunch etc. etc. Then there is the excitement of shopping too. The kids are leaving early to stay with their grand parents who are eagerly counting the days.

UN Compensation

People are now worried. Some banks have asked them to return certain amount which was paid in excess.
It never felt right in my mind when the compensation was paid. I am a hypocrite since even we would have taken it if it was offered. Yes it was okay if one takes it if they did lose something. But we know many whose claims were bogus. They lived a life of a bachelor without a car and had the nerve to claim for 2 cars! For many others it was a blessing since they could have never saved that amount in their life time.

I have always thought this was blood money, especially since the Iraqis are still suffering. And it was not because of their fault that Kuwait was invaded. Everyone knew Saddam was a dictator, hence only he should take the blame. When the rest of the region is enjoying the wealth the oil is bringing the poor Iraquis can only pray that they dont die with in the next bombing.

Long Live Achumammen!

I love this man! But when he came into I power I was disappointed since his hands seemed tied. But now he is a hero and in extreme action. Whoever thought one could touch such Hi-Fi people! I do feel sad for those people who did invest in those structures and I am sure most of them could be from the Gulf. Their hard earned money has now vanished. It is an eye opener for potential investors. It is good to check everything thoroughly before investing your hard earned money.

Some of those groups had the audacity to even stop streams by creating check dams! This means there were others who were denied their only source of water. I hope this continues else even this beautiful Hill Station called Munnar will be destroyed like Ooty and Kodaikanal. These places are so over crowded now and this has spoilt the natural beauty of the place. My first visit to Kodai was when I was in school.. I still remember the Koker's walk, the suicide point etc etc.. then the next visit was during our honey moon.. by then the place had changed.. more hotels nd concrete buildings... yet I would still love to visit the place again!

Monsoon

Today early in the morning the sky darkened and it started raining heavily for a short while. But it was enough to transport me home.. specially since we should be seeing the monsoon this year. I don’t think there is anything else so beautiful!
During one of our visits when the kids were small there was a flood. Our house is just a few feet away from the river with just a road to separate. When the rain starts one can see the water slowly changing its color. And when the rains have been heavier up in the mountains the water will become muddier. And then it will slowly creep up. Normally it stays just below the road but that year the rain was heavy and they had to open up a few dams. The water was all around the house and in our portico we could see fishes and small snakes. We were lucky that the bigger reptiles dint visit us, though this did happen to others. As for Hubby’s cousins as usual even this year they had to shift all their things to the second floor since the first floor was totally flooded! But for us visitors (from Gulf) it was fun time. The only hassle is that one cant venture outside but even this has its good side.. ur pockets r not drained!

God!

Does God need an introduction.. no..
Does God need any stamp of approval.. no
Does God need to be proved.. in my opinion.. no..

Then why am I writing this?

One of my blog friend has prompted me to write.

Do I believe in God.. oh YES…

I have experienced His love, care, warnings.. everything…

I cannot put down everything in writing.. but…some things never leave your mind.. specially when there was no one else to help u.

Both involved our kids…

My son decided to be a breach baby at the last moment.. during the last sonar.. this gave me warning bells and I asked the duty nurse if there would be any problem.. she tried to explain in her own way and that is when the Chief Gnec happened to pass by.. don’t know what prompted him to check.. but he asked the nurse what I was blabbering.. I took this opportunity to ask him if there is any problem.. he said there is no problem for the mother.. but a breach baby is always at risk.. I knew this for a fact since my cousin sister lost her baby thus.. during the last moments of delivery the umbilical code went around the baby’s neck and even though it was a reputed hospital with exp doctors none could save the life of the baby. After 2 girls one couldnt blame if she was waiting eagerly for a boy.. nd it was a baby boy.
Anyway after hearing me, this Doc said.. don’t worry I shall be there. I was returned to the delivery room and after some time this doctor did come. If anyone know how the govt hospitals are in the Gulf they know what I am talking about. There is no special doctor or nurse to take care of u..during the delivery a nurse will be in attendance and only in case of emergency will a doctor be summoned. And if the emergency happens to be at night.. u r doomed.
Anyway this doctor was quite old and experienced.. he just rubbed my tummy and turned our little brat around! He said now u go ahead and deliver. To me this was the answer to the prayers of my parents and Hubby’ since they couldn’t be at our side.

The second incident was the adenoid operation of our daughter. She was having a slight fever but since the date was fixed with great difficulty and our contact (a doctor) said it is difficult to get another.. he asked us to give her antibiotics.. but maybe because of the infection she started bleeding profusely after the operation.. she was whisked off immediately back to the operation table and they fixed a few gauze etc in her mouth and the end of it was attached to her cheek. I was with her all the time.. then suddenly I realized that she had chewed the thread holding the gauze.. I immediately ran to the nurse’s room and they had the nerve to tell me that there was no such packing. I was shocked and started crying.. only then they realized that it was serious. Unfortunately it was the time the doctors change duty but only by God’s grace they were able to catch a doctor. They put her on the nurse’s table itself and using forceps manage to pull the gauze out before it choked her! Now this was a miracle to me!
Oh.. there r many more incidents but it is too personal for the blog to handle!

New Blog Game - BackLink To Me

Hello! My Name Is Happykitten. My website is at http://under-the-tree-of-tranquility.blogspot.com/ . I have a BackLink to http://lijosblog.blogspot.com/.

Last day, we celebrated Ethnic day in our company.
We were supposed to come in traditional wear... That means being a Mallu, I was supposed to wear a Mundu (Dhothi). Normally I wear Jeans with shirts or T-shirts. This was the first time I was going to wear Dhothi to office. Unlike other mallus, I'm not used to this piece of clothing... From my childhood, I preferred something more reliable and safe than a simple piece of cloth wrapped around the body without the help of any buckles, buttons or hooks!!! I'm not telling that I don't like Mundu. I love the prestigious looks which a "kasavu mundu" (A cream colored dhothi with a one or two inch Border made with Golden thread) and a matching shirt can provide. The only thing that I hate is the insecurity that you will feel due to the Simple method of wrap-around-and-tuck-it-in technology fixing it on your waist. It's too simple that a wrong move can cause a wardrobe malfunction and give you a sudden popularity boost Like Janet Jackson, carol Gracious, Britney Spears etc. After writing this, I noticed that only Females get a boost due to wardrobe malfunctions. I remember one incident which happened few years back. A famous actor came to our town for the inauguration of a Famous Textiles showroom...

Miracle?

This is not for those atheists....

I lost my gold bangle and it is been a week. This morning I thought about it again and hoped if someone in dire needs got it let them keep it. That was when I was walking down the steps of the flat after locking the flat, my watch dangling on my fingers.. nd as soon as I sat down on the car beside my hubby it fell down by the side of the seat. I searched for it and found something else too there! yes .. my bangle.. felt soooooooooo happy! and of course thanked God.. I am sure if I hadnt discovered it it would have been lost forever in the next car servicing day!

So I was the person in dire needs!

X & Y Chromosome

The other day we ended up having a heated discussion on a forum. One forum member had commented on a newspaper report: how a husband killed his wife since she failed to produce a male child. I made the mistake of commenting that a man is responsible in determining the gender. I realized my mistake when the male members became so touchy and nervous! What I actually meant to write was that the woman has no role to play while it is from the man that the gender is decided. Of course even he cannot decide either, unless technology progress in such a way that the particular chromosome is isolated to produce the required gender.
I guess God was smart when he made it thus but I am sure he never thought that a man / woman would be so cruel as to kill a baby in its womb itself.
I am talking about the disturbing number of female foetus being killed in India. Soon in some states the gender ratio will be so bad that every girl would need to be protected by a black cat. Eve teasing would increase (there r less girls to ogle at!).. and maybe like the Arab culture boys will finally have to pay for a bride!

Computer Geek

The other day I realized that my son is a hopeless computer geek.

I was about to bake a cake and had just put the dough into the oven. He looked inside hungrily and asked me ...

"How long will it take to LOAD"?

Geek..

but it was nothing like the question that he asked me (nothing to do with the computers though) while studying about fishes. He read to me that fishes lay thousands of eggs.

"Amma, why dint you make thousand babies?" Gulp! imagine!

Along the Memory lanes..Coonoor

The FM is playing George Micheal’s song and it transports me to Coonoor and for a minute…. The sun is shining and I am on my bed with my favourite Reader's Digest. The window is open and the sun is streaming in. The rose flower under the window is slowly changing its color, I remember the pink color when I opened the window but now it would be yellow! We are going out to the town and I look forward to the shopping and the Chinese lunch afterwards. The town is always busy with a variety of faces, mostly honey-mooners. The botanical garden is also full. My sister's daughter is with us and she is naughty sometimes.

How I miss those beautiful places and those times. In fact every time I left the place after my holidays, in the car, I used to take a good look at the place and in my mind say good bye wondering whether I will ever see the place again. Even when I was young when the beauty of the hill station where I used to live overwhelm me, I used to think that God would put me in a desert for the rest of my life and it has come true. I had no other choice though I never wanted to come to this desert. But life is like that!

How I miss the cats and dogs that we used to have in our home. They are truly man’s best friend. A human friend may never offer ny consolation but animals do. Just take a look at the brown and loving eyes of your dog! How faithful he is. For him you are his everything and your happiness means to him a lot. He is not selfish but very magnanimus. Can a human friend be such. I wonder. And cats... they have a perosnality of their own...

Been Thinking of Marriage..

Marriages are indeed made in heaven! There is absolutely no doubt in this theory! Who other than the Almighty can find you the perfect match.

....someone who discovers your character faults.. (even u never knew it ever existed!)
....someone who compliments u for the best in u!
.. somone who makes u change u for the best or for the worst...

but then, if the marriage planned in heaven is to work on earth we have to be flexible and tolerant else it will go for a toss!

Child's Ten Commandments to Parents by: Author Unknown, Source Unknown

  1. My hands are small. Please don't expect perfection whenever I make a bed, draw a picture or throw a ball. My legs are short. Please slow down so that I can keep up with you.

  2. My eyes have not seen the world as yours have. Please let me explore safely. Don't restrict me unnecessarily.

  3. Housework will always be there. I'm only little for such a short time. Please take time to explain things to me about this wonderful world, and do so willingly.

  4. My feelings are tender. Please be sensitive to my needs. Don't nag me all day long. (You wouldn't want to be nagged for your inquisitiveness.) Treat me as you would like to be treated.

  5. I am a special gift from God. Please treasure me, holding me accountable for my actions, giving me guidelines to live by and disciplining me in a loving manner.

  6. I need your encouragement and your praise to grow. Please go easy on the criticism. Remember, you can criticize the things I do without criticizing me.

  7. Please give me the freedom to make decisions concerning myself. Permit me to fail so that I can learn from my mistakes. Then someday, I'll be prepared to make the kind of decisions life requires of me.

  8. Please don't do things over for me. Somehow that makes me feel that my efforts didn't quite sure up to your expectations. I know it's hard, but please don't try to compare me with my other or my sister.

  9. Please don't be afraid to leave for a weekend together. Kids need vacations from parents, just as parents need vacations from kids. Besides, it's a great way to show us kids that your marriage is very special.

  10. Please take me to worship regularly, setting a good example for me to follow.

Oh! Now there goes my poor Coconut!

This is from Today's newspapers..

Residents of Bougainville in Papua New Guinea have found an ingenious and indigenous solution to high-energy prices: the ubiquitous tropical fruit - coconut.
The islanders are developing mini-refineries to produce a coconut oil that can eventually replace diesel.

Now my coconut will be too high and mighty for my palates. So maybe we should buy a plot with a few coconut trees!

My dear coconut, will i be missing u soon from my diet? Sob.. sob.. nd my poor hair too.... it will all soon protest and fall down!

School Carnival

Yesterday it was the kid's school carnival. They had a very nice time. They played all the games, won a few prizes but spent all the money on games and nothing on food!

Teacher

I know, today is not a Teacher’s day! But I have to write this down!

Our son was sick and missed his classes – well my children have been missing classes all these years but I was shocked, surprised.. but glad, happy and touched when his Teacher called up to enquire. In my entire career of Motherhood this is the first time I have received such a call. Maybe because there was going to be a Vocab test but my kids have missed them even before. She gave me the portions and even said it is okay even if he misses it. I was so touched that actual tears came into my eyes. It is great to know that such teachers still exist in our universe.. May God bless Suzzane and may her tribe increase.

I still remember the teachers who have influenzed me. My English teacher – Gita Miss , Maths teacher Mr. Arun – his Maths class was very interesting.. because he used to narrate the stories of the English movies that he saw. It went like a serial- after each day’s lessons he picks up the story from the last day. And how we loved his classes and yes we loved Maths too! Then there were many others.
Teaching is a very noble profession but one should take it up only if one is interested in it. I have been a teacher too. And it was the most fulfilling days of my life.

Chronic Literary Freak

I am a chronic literary freak. Now what does this mean? It just means that I am addicted to reading! I have been doing so from the day I could decipher the English language. If I am not reading but sitting somewhere idly, my eyes probe around for any literature that may be around.
It could be anything – flyers, magazines, books… If I am not reading, I may be thinking of what I have read or what I want to write. Could that be an addiction? A sweet one though!

Talking about books- who can resist a good one? And now the internet users are blessed with E-books. I am a fan of late Sydney Sheldon. During college it was my aim to buy his book as soon as it was on the stands. But slowly life became a mad rush and I found no time to indulge myself in a book.. and then I found out that most of his books are available online! Wow! And now I can safely say that I have read them all.
Then comes Robin Cook.. one cannot read it in the same pace as Sydeny's books – go slowly – and sometimes when I think about a story I am in doubt if it was a movie or a book since the imaginary pictures are so vivid in my mind.

Romantic novels – Barabara Cartland, Milla & Boons and Hallequin Romance – unfortunately I couldn’t get my hands on a BC novel online as yet.

My all time favourite is “Thelma” – a novel set in Norway. It is an old fashioned love story but the girl Thelma is so sweet that one falls in love with her ever so easily.
Oh yes I cannot forget Ayn Rands’ novels. I believe one shouldn’t read it when one is young. It gives you lofty ideas in this imperfect world. Can any man be like Roark? And isn’t it easy for a young girl to fall in love with this character?
I came upon Khalil Gibran only late.. and I love the way he writes.. his depictions are so meaningful.

Khalil on children...

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

How True!

dont we love to make our children think, talk like us? make them walk the same paths that we tread? stop from them taking unknown roads, stop them from knowing unknown souls...

Vicks on the soles

It was an email forwarded by a caring mother. For coughs try rubbing Vicks on the soles of the feet and put on a pair of socks. I had to try it yesterday for my son who was coughing very badly.. and it worked. At least he was coughing less.

Then one can try Granny's home remedies:

1- the dry ginger + honey
2- boiling garlic and serving the reduced liquid with honey

Make the internet safe for children

The other day I was shocked to find a few obscene words(not deadly) typed onto the search column of Google... was it my kids aged 10 & 11?

They were given internet access recently and were playing online games. On checking with them, came to know that certain links were on the games page itself and when curiosity got the better of them they went on to search!
