Happy Landing..

The kids flew by AI this morning. Since they were travelling as unaccompanied minors they were handed over to the AI official. They were cool. Luckily the flight was in time.
Normally one is allowed 40 to 50 Kg, but suddenly they declared 35 Kg and most were unaware. They had to remove things or pay for the extra. Since many were taking the amnesity offered for 3 months they had much to carry with them. Poor folks!

IL's will be collecting the kids and they are eagerly waiting to see the bunnies. 20 days without the supervision of their parents should be heaven for them.. but we are going to miss them.

4 year old beaten to death!

It was shocking to read this news.. nd the mother being away in Iraq. Can a person be so cruel? and what could have prompted him to act this way?

Children!

The other day while trying to nod off to sleep, hubby asked the kids to list the negative traits of their parents. A dangerous excercise and the kids hesistated and we assured them that we will not react. They started with the Father and his obsession with cleanliness and neatness. Then comes me and our son came up with this classic observation. If the TV is on, then it is as though Amma's bottoms are glued on to the seat! Wow! Now am I really a couch potatoe? I doubt since I dont get that kind of free time with cooking, washing, iorning etc etc. still what he says is true, if I am watching the TV screen, I hate being disturbed. And our son loves interrupting by asking a variety of questions.

Mother's Prayer

It is said that a Mother’s prayer is the most powerful on Earth. God and heaven pauses to listen to her prayers.. after all a mother is appointed by God to look after the children until they can stand on their own. I have always believed this.. especially when I left the kids with the maid, when they were sick, when they were going to appear for their exams and even at quiet moments while they are sleeping – I say a short prayer for their well being since whatever efforts I may put, I can achieve nothing without the help from the Almighty.

So I guess as mothers it is our duty to pray for our children like our own mother has done and no child is too old for our prayers.

Computer Geek

The other day I realized that my son is a hopeless computer geek.

I was about to bake a cake and had just put the dough into the oven. He looked inside hungrily and asked me ...

"How long will it take to LOAD"?

Geek..

but it was nothing like the question that he asked me (nothing to do with the computers though) while studying about fishes. He read to me that fishes lay thousands of eggs.

"Amma, why dint you make thousand babies?" Gulp! imagine!

9. Please don't be afraid to leave for a weekend together. Kids need vacations from parents, just as parents need vacations from kids. Besides, it's a great way to show us kids that your marriage is very special.
   


10. Please take me to worship regularly, setting a good example for me to follow.
    

Vicks on the soles

It was an email forwarded by a caring mother. For coughs try rubbing Vicks on the soles of the feet and put on a pair of socks. I had to try it yesterday for my son who was coughing very badly.. and it worked. At least he was coughing less.

Then one can try Granny's home remedies:

1- the dry ginger + honey
2- boiling garlic and serving the reduced liquid with honey

Make the internet safe for children

The other day I was shocked to find a few obscene words(not deadly) typed onto the search column of Google... was it my kids aged 10 & 11?

They were given internet access recently and were playing online games. On checking with them, came to know that certain links were on the games page itself and when curiosity got the better of them they went on to search!

I thanked God that I stumbled upon this earlier enough to block the internet for safe usage and to give my kids a heart to heart talk on the danger of internet. I pray that they have understood the seriousness of the matter. I really do not want them to waste their time on unwanted sites and spoil their mental health. This is the time when they should study and aquire knowledge.
