Swami Vivekananda.. we continue to uphold your words...

'I have wandered into a lunatic asylum!' said Swami Vivekananda while in Kerala.

And more than 100 years have passed, yet Keralites continue to prove him right. Looking at the way the nail biting election results played out and the ensuing dramas before and after the election can one say that caste/community/religious based feelings have all been dumped?

Will the present CM voluntary select a mental hospital to recuperate / escape lunatic Kerala?

As a woman, I continue to wonder how Kunjhalikutty managed to get such a thumping victory. As for PJ Joseph, he has been hopping from party to another very easily and barely managed to escape the sexual allegation against him. The mullahs and the priests have indeed done a great job!

How did one of the best ministers in the earlier government N K Premachandran lose?

Politicians and religious heads have made Kerala into a land of minorities and we have minorities even among the majority! Each party keeps evolving after every election and fine tunes their means to keep this trend running.

Should I not admit myself into a lunatic asylum if I ever hope for good governance in Kerala?

  2. cant agree more to u and dr.antony. This outgoing govt. was one of the best and no reason why it should have been replaced by a more corrupt one

  3. I cannot be agreeing with you more.
It is not only lunacy that has inflicted Keralites , but insensitivity and form of perverted preference.
Else how would one explain the thumping majority of Kunnahlikutty?
Remember the molester "par excellence", Neelalohidha dasan Nadar won after his attempeted molesting of Ms Nalini Netto. And it was the elite and fancied educated women of his constituency who canvassed and endorsed him.

And Ommen Chandy had the audacity too phoo phoo Acthuthanandans suggestion to keep away thieves and womenisers from the cabinet. He claimed that Kunnahali Kutty and his Muslim league are civilsed and democratic party with absolutely no communal and extremist ideology.
    "God save God's own country"!

  4. Dr: This is not democracy but an insult.. how right you are! Our mind finally closes within some walls.

Jon: Looking at the present UDF, I would prefer the previous govt. to finish what they started..

Anil: insensitivity and form of perverted preference... yes... but then as someone said, Kunjalikutty got his votes only from a certain place and he is one reason for UDF's dismal performance.. along with other such characters that shall form the present ministry. This result also reflected the scams that rocked the Congress and also proved it is better that Rahul takes an early retirement from politics :) The Amul baby tag shall stick to him forever...

  5. You kind of lose hope in the democratic process when things like this happen :( And sadly it happens everywhere, irrespective of which state:(

  6. Hi,
You are right. I am a typical NRK grumbler, but this time I do feel that most keralites voted in a better manner. Otherwise how can we explain the photo-finish

Kunjalikutty was not the winner, it was the muslim league, apparently becuase a large section of muslims didnot find a better alternative to reflect their issues. But his constant backing led to UDF losing more seats in other areas than that could have been gained.

Keralites are notoriously known for demanding better governance except what constitutes a benchmark of performance is never fully understood.

  7. Smitha: Yes it happens in every state and democracy can be strange too...Congress was set to win easily but they did not.

Deeps: You are right about Kunjhalikutty.. and yes, democracy did succeed in a way.
As for development, I hope both the parties have learnt lessons from this election. But will the present govt. survive?
But more than the politicians, I think the voters need to be educated :)

  10. Anon: Thank you for your comments... Even if the court has aquitted P J Joseph, I do not think there was any political conspiracy in the the accusation. As a woman, if what happened was only a mere accident (as Joseph) claimed, I would not make a big issue out of it. nd even recently I heard his good frnd P C George say that only himself and Mrs. Joseph knows the real person behind this minister. This even after having patched up old issues :)
As for development, have seen Thodupuzha only when I was a child, so maybe you can let me know specifically what Joseph has done.

But more than everything, it is the way he has been hopping from one party to another just for a seat that tells the real character of this man.. nd also how the Church has been instrumental in getting this seat for him.

It is the same way many listened to Kunjhalikutty along the communal angle and we see the same line being played for Modi too...

  11. KERALA IS A PLACE WHERE SECULARISM IS WRITTEN ON WALLS BUT NOT IN THE MIND OF PEOPLE. A MUSLIM WILL ALWAYS BE MUSLIM,CHRISTIAN WILL BE CHRISTAIN AND HINDUS MAY FLIP FLOP.LITERACY CANNOT HELP THE MALES PINCHING FEMALES IN THE BUS,MALES STARING AT FEMALES ON THE ROAD. NO OTHER STATE IN INDIA WILL BE HAVING SO MUCH OF PROBLEM FOR FEMALES TO WALK ON THE ROAD WITHOUT GETTING ATTRACTION FROM MALES. BUT KERALA IS A REAL PLACE WHERE MALES ARE NOT SATISFIED.
