This morning while coming to work I listened (courtesy: Kuwait FM) to Whitney Houston sing “The Greatest love of all”. Her powerful voice rang out and I heard her sing...
The greatest love of allBut then with sadness, I remembered that this truth did not help her.
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
We know that the life of a celebrity is not an easy one, but many singers we know have survived the madness of limelight.
Or is it because she could not let another help her? Had she learned to depend only on her own self and thus lost the healing touch of others?
May she rest in peace while her songs continue to heal others.
"Greatest Love Of All"
I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
Everybody's searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone who fulfilled my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me
[Chorus:]
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I'll live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
[Chorus]
And if, by chance, that special place
That you've been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love

It is fickleness of celebrity status that often proves to be the downfall.
ReplyDeleteGiving in too much too materialism brings loneliness..
ReplyDeleteAnil: Fickleness, you are right.. but I think one need not be a celebrity to be fickle minded and also to depend entirely on self.. guess the humans are not wired thus.. as the saying goes; no man can is an island.
ReplyDeleteRenu: Yes.. too much materialism does bring loneliness.. the craving for earthly stuff may never end.
Whitney is a fantastic and very talented singer. It is heart breaking such wonderful people leave the world early.
ReplyDeleteMay her soul rest in peace.
Best wishes,
Joseph
JP: A warm welcome to my blog.
ReplyDeleteYes.. Whitney is a very talented singer. She has inspired many by her songs.. but what I wanted to point out was that, not a bit of these songs helped her in facing her own life and her battle with drugs. She need not have left the scene this early, if she had indeed learned to take care of herself. But then this is the life of a celebrity and another example of the same would be Micheal Jackson.
