Utterly, butterly delicious - the taste of India

It is indeed utterly and butterly delicious. When I first landed in Kuwait, it was Amul butter that I missed a lot. There were many other great brands in the market but for me nothing would come near to Amul. Finally it started appearing in this market too and now I make sure we never run out of this great one. Not sure how my kids aquired the taste since they refuse to eat nothing else but Amul butter when needed.

Thought I shall collect a few of those pertinent adverts that appear. Someone sure has a great humor! There are lots more....

  1. A very imaginative concept ads linked to daily life in the country; incidences, news and controversies seen through the prism of banter and lighter vein.
    Each one has been unique.

Great that you laboured to compile these.

Amul (Hindi: अमूल, Gujarati: અમૂલ) is the name of a dairy cooperative in India. Derived from the Sanskrit word "Amulya," Amul means invaluable.[2] Formed in 1946, it is a brand name managed by an Indian cooperative organisation, Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), which today is jointly owned by 3.03 million milk producers in Gujarat, India.[3]

Amul is based in Anand, Gujarat and has been a successful example of cooperative organization.[4] Amul spurred the White Revolution in India which in turn made India the largest producer of milk and milk products in the world.[5] It is also the world's largest vegetarian cheese brand .[6]
Amul is the largest food brand in India and world's largest pouched milk brand with an annual turnover of US $2.2 billion (2010-11).[7] Currently Unions making up GCMMF have 3.1 million producer members with milk collection average of 9.10 million litres per day. Besides India, Amul has entered overseas markets such as Mauritius, UAE, USA, Oman, Bangladesh, Australia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and a few South African countries. Its bid to enter Japanese market in 1994 did not succeed, but it plans to venture again.[8]
Dr Verghese Kurien, former chairman of the GCMMF, is recognised as a key person behind the success of Amul. On 10 Aug 2006 Parthi Bhatol, chairman of the Banaskantha Union, was elected chairman of GCMMF.

  4. I love the taste of Amul Butter too. And this is really surprising because I grew up loving "Lurpak - unsalted" and now alternate between these two! :) Nice ads. :)

I came in from Renu's blog. I have never been to kuwait, but one of my "bestest" friend from college lives there.

Don't mind me saying, but I think you need to reduce the size of the images in this post. I can see overlaps here. Or maybe its just my browser!

  5. Jyothi: A warm welcome to my blog. Do come often :)
Yes.. it was overlapping and I have reduced the size.. thank you.
Lupark tastes very bland when compared to Amul.. it is only when the shelf runs out of Amul I purchase another brand. Amul has completely taken over my taste buds :)
    Does your frnd blog?

  6. When travelling to school and college by bus, my sisters and I would look out for the Amul hoarding in the Sterling Road-Village Road junction (Chennai). Always a great start to a routine day!
