Will it ever be worth it?

A few years down, there will be discussions and debates...

Was it worth it?

....More than 3,850 US troops have died during the Iraq war...
....More than 1.... civilians (Iraqis) have died.....
.... More than 1..... are displaced.........
......More than..1..... women have been widowed....
........More than ....1..... children have been orphaned...

nd for what?

... in return for democracy???
... in return for Saddam???
.... in return for Oil???

Evey day more women are selling themselves to feed their family.. they are begging and foraging on the streets for daily bread..

r these exaggerated news or the truth?

or will we one day say that it never happened like some say about the Holocaust.. since it would be more convenient...

The return

I have always believed that when there are more people wanting to get into a country than get out, then the country is making progress. I also believed that the time when those in Gulf find a reason to return to their home country then there is proof of progress.. and I see that it is already happening..

Will India's Construction Boom Lure Laborers Back Home?
by Sanjeev Choudhary, The Economic Times, India Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News
Tuesday, November 06, 2007 India's growth story has thrown up immense job opportunities for expat and NRI managers, pilots and other high-salaried professionals, so far. Now it's the turn of cheap and skilled labor from outside India to participate in the growth story. Companies have already started hiring or plan to hire such labor by the thousands.

Fuel Without the Fossil

Kevin Moloney for The New York Times

Mitch Mandich is among the entrepreneurs using chemical methods to try to make fuel from material like pine chips.

DENVER — Mitch Mandich proudly showed off his baby, a 150-foot contraption of tanks, valves, hoppers, augers and fans. It hissed. It gurgled. An incongruous smell wafted through the air, the scent of turpentine.

The Hole

Stephen Cohen, of the Brookings Institution thinktank, and the author of a new book, The Idea of Pakistan, said: "The American and British governments have dug such a big hole for themselves, they have no choice but to support Musharraf in whatever he does."

Read..

Stephen has hit the Bulls Eye with his statement! Keep lauding and loading Pakistan...since this does not have a break! You just wait for the crash...

Couldnt help posting this....

"The president is a strong defender of freedom and the people of Pakistan," Bush said that day, side by side with Musharraf.

U.S. aid supports Pakistan military

Most U.S. aid to Pakistan goes toward military support; the U.S. counts on Pakistan to help capture al-Qaida operations and provide intelligence. "We're obviously not going to do anything that will undermine the war on terror," said Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for Bush.

and all in favour of Osama...isnt he one smart aleck?

Outsourcing

I thought Child Labour is more in China than in India. We are more civilized aren’t we? Remember we send them to schools instead...

I thought outsourcing means those Call Centers, but outsourcing equals child labour too.

Gap has huge contracts in India, which boasts one of the world's fastest-growing economies. But over the past decade, India has also become the world capital for child labour. According to the UN, child labour contributes an estimated 20 per cent of India's gross national product with 55 million children aged from five to 14 employed across the business and domestic sectors.
Gap may be one of the best-known fashion brands with a public commitment to social responsibility, but the employment [by subcontractors ultimately supplying major international retail chains] of bonded child slaves as young as 10 in India's illegal sweatshops tells a different story,' says Bhuwan Ribhu, a Delhi lawyer and activist for the Global March Against Child Labour.

Next time we buy cheap clothes made in India, China or Thailand, I guess we should ask ourselves how we get it so cheap. But alas, you and me will never do that since we are already sagging under our own financial burdens.

But I guess the Corporate world is under scanner and is forced to enforce stricter laws. This is a relief. There is no other way child labour can be stopped.

Slap slap..

Those days are gone.. yet it was shocking to hear that an actress was slapped by a director.

I like Padmapriya. She reminds me of yet another actress that I love to watch on the screen - Shobana.

Padmapriya left her executive job to pursue a career in acting and she is an inteligent girl. The director's excuse that it was because she was not acting properly is pathetic.

Cowards!

There is no other word to call these heartless creatures who kill innocent people. Did they kill the person they wanted? Are they closer to their objectives? Of course not! They dont know what they want since they dont have a mind of their own. Just like how you train a dog to pick a stick these people are brainwashed (do they have brains?) and ordered to kill innocents. They would kill their own parents and siblings, since they have lost whatever humanity they ever had. They are mere zombies who gave up their conscience.

My heart goes to all those who are left behind with just memories of whom they loved.

To those who were taken away from our midst for no fault of theirs.

Let us also remember Iraq where this has become a routine. When cowards strikes your homeland it pains you, while for the Iraqis, it has become a part of their daily lives. Isnt the world too silent on this?

Another land grabbing thwarted!

Ministers from every political party visit Gulf and if you think their agenda is only to meet their faithful followers, you are wrong. The ministers in power know how easily they can use the government machinery to grab the government land and transfer it to the NRIs who can afford them. Recently in the news is the Kerala Public Works minister – T. U. Kuruvilla.
Kerala businessman K.G. Abraham, who is based in Kuwait, Wednesday accused the state's Public Works Minister T.U. Kuruvilla of cheating him in a land transfer deal. The minister denied the charge.
He is accused of taking 6 crores in return for land in Munnar to construct a resort. But before the land could be transferred, the deal was brought up to the notice of the public and now they are all in a fix. I doubt if this NRI will get his money back. This is a painful lesson for NRIs who want to invest back home. It is always better if they invest their money in the right way. Let them not run after the Ministers, but then without the support of these so called “representative of the people” nothing can happen.

Like Kerala even Goa has started its fight against land grabbers. Recently the famous Singer and musician Remo Fernandes has refused to accept a state award instituted by the Goa government’s art and culture department.

“I refuse this state award or reward as a sign of protest against the government of Goa as well as the opposition, both full of ministers and politicians involved in large-scale attempted rape and sale of Goa through the infamous Regional Plan 2011, either actively or through their inaction,” he said the letter.

I guess this is the only way in a democratic set up. The people have to stand up and fight.
